Techemet was founded in South Africa in 1968. Initially Techemet owned and operated a salt mine, but soon expanded to include a division that offered consulting services to the mining and smelting industries in South Africa.
Techemet's experience ranges from uranium and copper processing to all stages of gold and platinum group metals smelting and refining.

Techemet's first smelter was commissioned in 1989 with the sole purpose of smelting automobile catalyst.
Over the years the operation has expanded its scope and capacity. Our smelting capabilities now include materials such as petroleum and carbon based catalyst as well
as platinum and palladium bearing scrap from the jewelry, dental and electronics industry.
Techemet has buying facilities in Mexico, Central and South America as well as Europe and Asia. We will continue to look at future expansion opportunities.
Our International buyers travel world-wide to inspect and purchase all types of catalyst and converters. Although we can trace our roots back to the South African mining sector, we are now a Texas owned and operated company.
